The Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization organized the pilot work of extending producer responsibility for automobile products
In order to promote the implementation of the extended Producer responsibility (EPR) system and improve the comprehensive utilization level of automotive resources, on 17th Dec, 2024, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the MIIT organized a pilot work on the extended producer responsibility of automotive products in Beijing. The Department of Market operation and Consumption Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce is responsible for the relevant work comrades, relevant industry experts, as well as FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, SAIC, Geely, Chery, Great Wall, Shaanxi Auto and other pilot enterprise representatives attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the MIIT and the Department of Market Operation and Consumption Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the extension of the responsibility of the producer of automobile products and the promotion of the recycling and utilization of scrapped motor vehicles. Pilot enterprises focused on the comprehensive utilization of automotive resources, green supply chain management, promotion and application of recycled materials, information disclosure and other aspects of the work achieved and the completion of the pilot objectives. According to the work of pilot enterprises, the participating experts exchanged and discussed aspects such as improving supporting standards and norms, promoting the integrated development of industrial chains, exploring sustainable business models, and building information platforms, and put forward opinions and suggestions.
The next step, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the MIIT will work with relevant units to continue to deepen relevant policy research, promote the improvement of the standard system, increase the publicity and promotion of typical experience practices, and guide the whole automotive industry chain to accelerate the pace of green transformation.
